How it works

Our Benchmarking Process

The Candidate Experience benchmarking process is simple and our CandE research team will guide you along the way.

After you register to participate, the program consists of three primary steps:

  1. Complete our employer self-assessment survey designed to capture and evaluate your recruitment processes and practices that impact the candidate experience.
  2. Complete our candidate methodology survey and receive our guidelines that help you identify which candidates you’d like to target and how to distribute.
  3. Distribute our candidate survey designed to capture your candid candidate experience feedback.

Employers will then receive full access to all their data and the aggregate anonymized data in each region where they participate via secure login access to our technology partner platform Survale Lite (Survale is an enterprise talent survey and analytics platform). You will receive your unique login information to access the data once we provide you with your candidate survey link(s).

The CandE research team will schedule regular check-in calls during the candidate experience feedback collection phase to review your data with you and answer your questions.

Once the final survey deadline passes, the CandE research team will finalize the annual benchmark ratings and schedule a formal data reporting session for you and your team. The session will include reviewing the strengths and weaknesses in your recruiting process and the candidate journey and much more.

The complete process is also shown in the graphic below.

CandE Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions that we get asked about the CandEs. If you do not see your answer here, please contact us.

The CandE Benchmark Research Program is the only global candidate experience benchmark research program built for recruiting and hiring leaders and their teams. We provide everything you need so you can survey your candidates securely and anonymously and then have access to all of your candidate responses and benchmark against our global aggregate data. Each year the CandE Benchmark Research Program recognizes those participating employers with the highest candidate experience ratings with our coveted CandE Awards.

Your organization can survey candidates in any or all of the following regions: North America (NA); Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); Asia-Pacific (APAC); and Latin America (LATAM).

Our Advanced Benchmark program includes up to three unique candidate survey links per region. You can review the different program levels here.

To collect the most accurate data, we recomend collecting feedback from as many candidates as possible. However, below are the minimums required to be statistically valid in our research and to qualify for a CandE Award. We also ask employers to target 80% or more candidates who weren’t hired, and 20% or less candidates who were hired. For a company that hired 10,000 people last year, we would require a minimum of 500 completed surveys to reach statistical validity. With a typical response rate of 5%, we recommend surveying at least 10,000 candidates.

Our average response rate is conservatively 5%, although many employers have seen 10% response rates or higher.

No. All employer and candidate responses are confidential and we do not collect any candidate contact information. Only employers that win a CandE award will be revealed publicly. The identity of employers that participate, but do not win a CandE award, will not be revealed. Certain exemplary aspects of award-winning employer recruiting practices may be included in our research reports or articles with participating employer permission.
